Chitari Goan Orange Hook
Dimensions: 120cm maximum width, 60cm regular width, 50cm high.
Code: WOOD 2921
This hand-painted expandable hook is made in a small village in the south of the tropical state of Goa, which is home to the Chitari craftsman. Only a few families still practice this ancestral skill of producing ornately painted and lacquered wooden articles that can be found in nearly all traditional homes. In the local language, Konkani, ‘chitari’ means to draw. The design motifs used are mainly flowers and parakeets and are painted freehand using a vibrant colour palate. The artisans access a variety of wood including jackwood, mango wood and hedi, a local white wood. This sturdy yet lightweight piece has a pretty floral design and has ten hooks. It would fit perfectly on the back of a door and would also be very useful in a hallway. Perfect for garments and works wonderfully for jewellery.
We have others available in green and orange. See Code 2421, Code 2521, and three more orange hooks see Code 2621, Code 2721 and Code 2821.
